UK producer, DJ Hudson Mohawke, who has worked with the likes of Kanye West, Drake, Rick Ross and others, has announced his first album in six years, Lantern, being released on June 15 through Warp Records. The former TNGHT member's new album will be a noted change of direction from 2009's Butter with the addition of new vocalists like Miguel and Jhené Aiko.
HudMo, real name Ross Brichard, spoke about the direction of the album and what went into making the LP over the past several years.
"This album is everything I've been working towards. I wanted to make a classic - at least for me and my friends," stated Brichard via Warp Records. "I never wanted to be any genre. I wanted to be my own thing. Everything."
In a recent interview with Benji B on BBC Radio One, HudMo previewed some new music from the album and talked about what fans should expect from it.
"It represents me more as a producer in a traditional sense rather than a beat maker," said the "Higher Ground" producer.
"There has been a lot more people involved in the process then just me in my bedroom at my mom's house." Unlike songs like "Chimes," the album will be less club-focused, He shared, "In 10 years's time, I would still be happy to listen to this."
