Diplo and K-Swiss Launch The Board, a Creative, Crowdsourced Initiative

You may remember those commercials Diplo did back in the day with BlackBerry that were all over TV several years ago. Well, now the Jack Ü member has found himself a new partner in the form of K-Swiss. The new commercial deal, titled "The Board," is creating a new creative team that will work under the watchful eye of Diplo. The team will be crowdsourced through an application on the K-Swiss site.

"I'll be bringing in some of my friends to help, experts in marketing, design, branding and business," explained Diplo. "They'll drop knowledge and then we'll have real tasks to work on, including sneaker design, brand positioning, social media and more. What The Board decides, K-Swiss will do. You'll be in the driving seat."

The move to partner with a sneaker brand like K-Swiss was an easy one for the internationally known DJ/producer and was not just about money.

I was instantly drawn to K-Swiss due to its heritage and longevity in the marketplace," he said via Style. "I am excited to be part of The Board, to bring young entrepreneurial minds into the process to help build the next chapter at such a respected brand."

This move is an attempt to try and bring added exposure to K-Swiss, who has suffered in name recognition from celebrity endorsements compared to Adidas, Nike and Puma over the years.

The Board will gather 100 creatives from around the world on this project. The application deadline in April 30. You can apply via the K-Swiss website here. It remains to be seen if this campaign actually comes up with some interesting and innovative ideas that the sneaker brand can put to good use, but it is a start getting Diplo to lead the charge.
