The Empire season finale tonight has fans ready to tune in for the anticipated two-hour conclusion to a season that has drawn the attention of many. Tonight, Rita Ora and Charles Hamilton will join in on the fun to perform track "New York Raining."
In an interview with Billboard, Ora spilled on her excitement for appearing on the finale.
"'New York Raining' is one of my favorite songs that I have recorded, and I am so honored to have been asked to perform it with Charles on the Empire season finale," Ora told Billboard. "Both as a viewer and as a performer on the show, I cannot wait to tune in to watch what happens next."
The hip-hop soap opera has caught the attention of viewers. According to USA Today, Empire has broken Neilson records for building an audience every episode. The show's popularity has surpassed other popular network dramas like The Walking Dead and Scandal, making it the season's No.1 network drama on Twitter.
In a recent interview with Hiphopdx, Hamilton discussed the process of creating "New York Raining" that features Ora.
"Originally it was a beat I had made at the top of the year and I sent it to management and they sent it to The Invisible Men," Hamilton told Hiphopdx. "And The Invisible Men made a remix of it, and I learned what they did on the remix on the piano and I played the chords for the entire song and wrote rhymes around all the chords. Then I requested that Rita Ora be on it — I like her voice — and the rest is history."
Ora is wrapping up an album for Columbia Records, Billboard reported. She will also appear in Southpaw with Jake Gyllenhaal.
To check out "New York Raining" and all the drama Empire will have in store for the finale tonight, tune in at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
