The haters are indeed hating the fact that Kanye West was given a headlining spot at this year's Glastonbury Festival. Fans started a petition Monday, March 16, to have his set canceled, and the document has received more than 50,000 supporters, Consequence of Sound notes. The goal of the petition is to get a rock band in place of the So Help Me God rapper.
"Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment," Neil Lonsdale wrote on the website. "Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music....he should listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving! Lets prevent this musical injustice now!"
Lonsdale told the BBC that he would prefer a guitar act like AC/DC, The Rolling Stones or Prince.
"I think a lot of people want to go to a festival, stand in a field, all come together, have a sing have a dance. And I think that Kanye and his music might not be that," he added.
His argument is poor, though, considering the Foo Fighters are headlining Friday night. And if you want to dance, Lionel Richie is closing the festival out on Sunday.
Big names at last year's festival included Metallica, Arcade Fire and The Black Keys.
Festival-goers weren't too keen when Jay Z and Beyoncé were tapped for the festival in 2011. The pair did not disappoint, though.
Yeezy announced the name of his seventh album earlier this month. So Help Me God will feature previously released singles "All Day," "Wolves," "Only One," and "FourFiveSeconds" featuring Paul McCartney and Rihanna.
