T-Pain has released the latest cut from his upcoming mixtape The Iron Way. The new record, "Did It Anyway" is a luxurious, swaggering T-Pain classic sounding track with light Auto-tune and enough bravado to let us know he is back to turn up his solo career again.
The Rappa Ternt Sanga raps about an unknown female companion who is enamored with him and wants to take the rapper back home with her. He casually and comically tells the following story.
"I can't ask for anything better, I'm rolling a blunt and I am spilling weed all over this leather / I'm drunkin, I'm skunkin, She wants me to take of my sweater/ but I am too cold and I didn't even really want to give her this dick, but I did it anyway."
The Iron Way mixtape is set to be the next edition in DJ Drama's prestigious Gangsta Grillz series that have included contributions from some of the biggest names in hip-hop including Lil Wayne, Ghostface Killah, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, Chris Brown, Pharrell, 50 Cent, Meek Mill and many others. There have been close to 150 tapes in total that have been a part of the series. The Iron Way is going to be dropped on March 27. Listen to "Did It Anyway" below via Hot New Hip Hop.
The Iron Way will be the teaser to T-Pain's official come back album Stoicville: The Phoenix, which is slated for release some time later this year.
The Tallahassee rapper recently sat down with Larry King to talk about his upcoming album.
"Stoicville is more truthful to me," he explained. "It's things that's in my heart instead of trying to make hits... It's not about if people get it or not. It's about if I'm singing from my heart and making lyrics that resonate with me and not just making people dance in the club all the time."
