After the news leaked out last week that Krewella would be releasing a new single today, March 23 -- the first of 2015 -- the "Alive" duo followed up on that news by sharing their new song "Somewhere to Run." Featuring production work from Pegboard Nerds and Don Gilmore (Korn, Linkin Park), Yasmine and Jahan Yousaf continue their attempt to blend rock and heavy elements of EDM into their own new sound as they continue on in the post-Kris "Rainman" Trindl era.
The track is a clear message to those who have their hatred toward Krewella over the past few months with lines like "Say hello to the finger in your face, if you're telling me how I should behave." The public perception of the duo has affected them, and writing music is their outlet as they try and escape it all or look for "somewhere to run."
The instrumental crafted by Danish/Norwegian duo and Don Gilmore has some Daft Punk influences with the harder rock and EDM -- electro and dubstep -- styles that Gilmore and the Pegboard Nerds bring to the table, and what Krewella had on their November 2014 single "Say Goodbye." Listen to "Somewhere to Run" on YouTube and purchase it on iTunes.
The cover art would suggest they are trapped inside a glass box, hinting at the sexist remarks that are being launched their way by keyboard warriors all over the world who are siding with Trindl and are not waiting to see what is settled from the full lawsuit.
Trindl accused the duo of kicking him out for not partying with them after he went to rehab for alcoholism in favor of cheaper producers as a money grab. The sisters deny the accusations and allege that Trindl was not nearly as involved as he claimed to have been. The saga continues to unravel in court.
Krewella will be unveiling a new, live setup this weekend during their Sunday, March 29, set on the Live Stage at Ultra Music Festival.
