A$AP Rocky has officially announced the title for his upcoming sophomore album At.Long.Last.A$AP. Speaking to GQ, Rocky, named Rakim Mayers, after the legendary hip-hop vocalist Rakim, rapped a brand new verse from an unknown track on the album. It isn't known when the LP will be released yet, but Rocky has been keeping the hype going with the single "Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2." Watch the verse below.
The album was recorded at both Red Bull Studios in London and at Sound Factory in Los Angeles where he did two tracks with Danger Mouse. The full LP will feature the likes of Lykke Li, FKA Twigs, Juicy J, Clams Casino and potentially others according to an interview with Billboard. A$AP Yams, who it was recently revealed died of an accidental drug overdose, will be listed as an executive producer on the album.
Rocky is aware of how this album could impact his image and the pressure he is under with this album.
"I'm claiming ownership of my legacy," Rocky says to GQ. "Look at it: At.Long.Last.A$AP. A-L-L-A. Like slang for 'Allah.' It's the return of the god MC. I'm named after Rakim, and I'm finally facing what it means: I was born to do this shit," he says. "And I hope I get to do it for a very long time."
In a recent interview with the New York Times, Rocky opened up about A$AP Yams' death, which had just been revealed to be accidental.
"I don't feel alone. I just miss him," he said. "I'm going to talk to him and ask him what's up. And we're going to see if he's still got it even from up there."
A definitive release date has not been given yet for the album, but stay tuned for that and for any more information on the track that Rocky rapped in the video.
