Rihanna, Madonna, Arcade Fire, Kanye West & More Show Support For Jay Z's TIDAL Streaming Service

As previously reported, Taylor Swift recently put her music (minus 1989) on Jay Z's new streaming service TIDAL after removing it from Spotify last year. Now a slew of big-name artists, such as Kanye West, Jack White's Third Man Records, Rihanna, Madonna, Arcade Fire, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, are joining her.

On Sunday night Jay Z tweeted, "The Tides They Are-A Changing," while the artists who have aligned with the streaming service changed their Twitter profile photos to a cyan blue box to show support.

"Music makes the people come together. Join Madonna and turn your profile picture blue. Do it for the music," Madonna tweeted, while Kanye wrote "Together, we can turn the tide and make music history. Start by turning your profile picture blue."

Rihanna, whose album R8 was rumored to be dropping tonight on the service, wrote, "NAVY, turn the tide...#MakeMusicHistory #TurnitBlue #TIDALforALL." The "B*tch Better Have My Money" singer has since denied those rumors, however.

The official TIDAL site is counting down to 5 p.m. tonight, when Jay Z will give a "special announcement," according to Roc Nation's tweet.

According to Rolling Stone, the press conference will be streamed live from New York on the TIDAL site, which brands itself as "the first music streaming service that combines the best high fidelity sound quality, high definition music videos and expertly curated editorial."

Along with the Twitter campaign, the streaming service also revealed a commercial for the launch, which features appearances from West, White, Madonna, Daft Punk, Beyoncé, Chris Martin, and Alicia Keys, among others.

TIDAL's service will offer two price tiers. TIDAL Premium at $9.99/month gives users standard quality sound with hi-def music videos while TIDAL HiFi at $19.99/month provides the Lossless High Fidelity sound quality, unavailable at streaming companies like Spotify, as well as the HD music videos and curated editorial. A 30-day trial is available for new users.
