Many fans and non-fans tuned in last night, March 30, to watch Justin Bieber get roasted on Comedy Central. Meanwhile, Bieber is working on a new album with the help of Kanye West and Rick Rubin. The Biebs recently dished on his upcoming album and personal relationships.
In an interview with USA Today, Bieber discussed working with West and Rubin on his new album.
"I'm finishing up the album now, working with Kanye and Rick. I'm not rushing it, I'll just wait until it's totally done," he said.
He also gave insight into what his new music will focus on.
"About [his sponge] growing, being in touch with yourself," he told USA Today. "What can I say, it's life experiences, and knowing that you can and get back up and keep going. Hope and faith, that's what's gotten me through this, too, my faith. What I believe in. You're around some people sometimes and it might taint what you believe. I think that's what happened with me, I lowered my beliefs."
The Canadian singer did a lot of his growing up in the spotlight. The world may have witnessed the good and the bad, but Bieber proclaimed he is now focused on improving his personal relationships and those he keeps in his corner. He shared that his formely strained relationship with his mother, for example, is getting better.
As for his entourage, he is only keeping those on his "journey" close.
"I left a lot of people behind who weren't on the same journey I was on, and I've got a lot of new people in my life who are pouring into me, and not taking away from me," he told USA Today.
Bieber's roast premiered last night on Comedy Central. The singer felt the roast was all in good fun.
"Overall, it was really good, very funny, with Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell coming out. That was definitely my favorite part, Will. Man, when he came out [as Ron Burgundy] and said, 'No, Justin's been doing everything right.' That was so funny," he told USA Today.
Beliebers are waiting anxiously for the newly 21-year-old's new album, slated for release this year.
