Review: Lea Michele gets other stars' scraps in 'Louder' from debut album [LISTEN]

After debuting two ballads from her debut album, it's about time Glee star Lea Michele turned things up. Today (Jan. 13), the Broadway star turned actress turned singer debuted "Louder" the third song from her debut pop album of the same name at Billboard.

Unlike the soaring lead single "Cannonball" and the heart wrenching ballad "Battlefield," "Louder" finally turns the tempo up a couple of notches, bring a dancey feel to the seemingly serious record.

From the opening few bars, it's clear that "Louder" is different. Ethereal, poppy notes lightly bounce around the speakers before Michele's powerhouse vocals even show up.

Once again, Michele takes a page out of Demi Lovato's book, as she sings about hopefulness and the need for one to express herself. "Step out of the shadow and into the light / This could be the moment, are you ready to fight?" Michele sings right at the song's start.

The chorus then follows suit, telling the listener its time to scream a little "Louder." Fitting with the song title, a massive crescendo leads into the song's apex and a heavy beat drops, encouraging listeners not only to belt along to the song but to dance too.

"Louder" isn't any groundbreaking pop music, and she could easily be swapped out for a variety of pop's other female solo acts. It's hard not to imagine that poor Lea got the scraps from a Lovato project or something from Britney Spears' or Selena Gomez's 2013 albums. Despite the all-too familiar feeling, the song is yet another solid release from Michele's debut album.

"Louder" is the third preview song and title track to Lea Michele's debut album Louder. The song will debut on iTunes tomorrow (Jan. 14) ahead of the album's March 4 release date.
