After feuding on and off for the better part of four months, sources who wish to remain anonymous because the information is not yet public have informed Music Times that deadmau5 is set to produce Krewella's upcoming album. The teams have not decided on a name as of yet, but a few ideas being floated out there include When It Rains It Pours, Totally Real Album, Why Did We Do This? and Are We Friends?
The news may come as a surprise to many within the dance music community who have seen deadmau5 lambast the two Krewella sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf over the past several months over their lawsuit with former member Kris "Rainman" Trindl and comments that folllowed. The lawsuit alleges that Jahan and Yousef did no production work and are currently looking to use outside help at a fraction of the cost, though Krewella deny the accusations.
Deadmau5 and Krewella's management teams first broached the idea during a secret backdoor meeting in Los Angeles at the Chuck E Cheese in Pasadena two days after Rainman filed the lawsuit in November. It took a while to reach both artists who apparently were both quoted as saying "I can't hear you, there's too much money in my hand." Eventually both artists were reached after being lured away by the promise to drive a Delorean and new black sleeveless shirts.
With all of the bluster, deadmau5 saw an opportunity to step in and do the work because "at first I tried to get them to stop, but they were so damn persistent to continue their career, so they sure as hell could use some real production work after hearing what the current guys are doing." Asked if he was willing to take a pay cut, deadmau5 confessed he was apprehensive at first, but he says he has "enough money to shoot f*cking drones out of the sky for fun and build a tour that will cause traffic jams when it travels. So money is not an issue."
When asked about his change of heart regarding the sisters he admitted candidly that he felt an affinity for them because "neither do much Djing" and "it is kind of lonely up on my massive ranch."
Deadmau5 added "I am also ZHU, haha just kidding.... Or am I?" with a rye smile on his face.
Krewella saw the opportunity to face one of the biggest attackers on social media.
"Deadmau5 has been coming after us, so we figured we might as well flip the script and use him for our album," said Jahan cheerfully.
"The tenor of the album won't change too much, having Joel around may make things a little more angsty than before if you can believe that," says Yasmine.
Krewella have been writing about a lot of different topics over the past few months including cats, black clothes and cold weather.
Some of the initial ideas for collaborators include Professor Meowingtons, who when asked for comment could not be reached because he was either eating or sleeping, recordings from their lawsuit and possibly a few deadmau5 screaming samples.
Will they continue to fight on Twitter? "Don't married couples fight all of the time?" the three respond in striking unison.
Deadmau5 and Krewella have only started sending a few ideas back and forth with project files titled "I Hate You," "I Hate You More," "I Really Don't Like You" and "I Guess You Aren't So Bad."
The album should be released in exactly one year's time as the unlikely pairing look to make progress before the busy summer schedule catches up to both acts.
The collaboration does not end with the album. They are in secret talks with Pioneer Electronics to develop the first ever wireless DJ mixer which will they will debut during a joint tour to support the album.
And in case you believed us, Happy April Fools!!
