Jessie J exercised her rap skills by taking on Nicki Minaj's verse in their song "Bang Bang" that also features Ariana Grande.
In an appearance with Capital FM radio (via Youtube), Jessie J takes on Dizzee Rascal and B.o.B followed by her co-performer's verse on "Bang Bang."
"Bang Bang" is a song close to the British pop star's heart. In an interview with The New York Post, Jessie J revealed that she cried listening to the song before it was even finished.
"I'd just got home from a long flight and I was tired and emotional anyway," Jessie J told The Post. "Nicki [Minaj] hadn't put her rap on it yet but when I played it, I cried. Even though it wasn't finished, I just knew it was going to be something special."
The trio—Grande, Minaj and Jessie J—met for the first time in person at the video shoot for the track, according to The Post. They performed at the MTV Video Music Awards shortly after. Jessie J insists that the trio keep in touch, even if they don't get the opportunity to get together.
"It's hard to say we're best friends because we've still only met twice!" Jessie J explained. "But I definitely feel comfortable reaching out to them or texting them."
Jessie J also shared how she handled her success in the U.S.
"I was in a car in Soho [days] after the VMAs and I wound the window down to take a picture," she explained to The Post. "These kids saw me and freaked out. I took about 100 selfies with everyone that came to the car. I'm used to that in the UK, but not here—it's like a new love."
"Bang Bang" is featured on Jessie J's third album, Sweet Talker that released October 2014. The track is also featured on the deluxe edition of Grande's sophomore LP My Everything, released in August 2014.
