Experimental rock electronic duo Ratatat -- comprised of Evan Mast and Mike Stroud -- has unveiled their first single in five years, "Cream on Chrome." Premiered yesterday, April 11, during their Coachella 2015 performance, the single is the first piece of original solo material from the band since their 2010 album LP4 on XL Recordings.
The duo return with the sound fans have been clamoring to hear over their five-year dry spell. Psychedelic guitar riffs and lo-fi electronic samples bring back the nostalgia of old Ratatat with the maturity shown by the pair. Listen to the track below.
They have not revealed much information about the sound except that it is a single. It is presumed to be from an upcoming album, though no information on that project has been unveiled. Watch the pair perform the track at Coachella below.
Ratatat have made 2015 a comeback year of sorts for themselves. In addition to the new music, and it would appear that there is more on the way, they are also in the midst of a small tour in the western half of the United States. They just wrapped shows in Tulsa, Denver, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas before performing at Coachella last night.
They will take the stage in Tempe before doing a few "Localchella" shows in between the second weekend of the festival. They have three more festival dates announced this summer: Governors Ball in New York City, Primavera Sound in Barcelona and We Love Green! Festival in Paris. See the full list of dates below, and if you will be attending any, let us know down in the comments section.
