A key witness in the hit-and-run murder case against Suge Knight told judges that he doesn't want to testify against the rap mogul. Cle "Bone" Sloan was one of the three men Knight hit with his vehicle on January 30, however, he doesn't want to take part in sending the former Death Row Records executive to prison by "snitching," TMZ reports.
According to Reuters, Sloan was the man involved in the brawl with Knight, which occurred through the window of Knight's vehicle on the set of the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. Knight and Sloan reportedly traded punches before Knight put his truck in reverse, knocking Sloan and Terry Carter (who later died) on to the ground and pulling forward to run both men over.
When Sloan, who suffered a badly mangled left foot and head injuries, took the witness stand at a preliminary hearing of the case, the prosecutor raised the topic of snitching to which Sloan said he doesn't "want to be used to send this man to prison."
He added, "I screwed up and Terry's dead."
Sloan, who identified himself as a "non-active gang member," even declined to positively identify Knight when asked.
It appears that Sloan is taking some responsibility for Carter's death, but time will tell if it ends up helping Knight's case.
Knight was charged with murder and attempted murder after being arrested on Jan. 30. If found guilty of murder, Knight faces a mandatory sentence of 25 years to life in prison under California's three-strikes rule. He is currently held on $25 million bail. Knight has pled not guilty.
