Death Cab For Cutie announce first live show of 2014 before new album release

2014 is going to be a big year for Death Cab For Cutie, and the indie rockers are getting things on a roll by announcing its first live show of the year. Today (Jan. 21), the "Soul Meets Body" band revealed that it will be playing its first concert of 2014 in May.

Death Cab took to Facebook and other social outlets to announce a show on May 23 with rising indie folk group The Head and The Heart in Canandaigua, New York (that's Upstate for all you city folk).

Tickets for the one-off concert will go on sale Wednesday (Jan. 22) for Death Cab For Cutie fan club members, with general audience seats being made available on Friday (Jan. 24) at noon.

The concert announcement for Death Cab For Cutie follows news that the band is working on its follow-up to the 2011 album Codes + Keys. Members of Death Cab first announced they were working in the studio back in October via an official Instagram account.

Band member Chris Walla will produce the new album, Death Cab's untitled eighth effort. The album has yet to receive an official release date.

With the recording process well behind them by May 23, fans at the first 2014 show should be expecting to hear samples of some new material.

With Death Cab For Cutie testing songs from a new album, show openers The Head and The Heart will continue to promote its latest album, Let's Be Still.
