Avicii to play short arena tour in between Las Vegas residency slots, festival appearances

The business of EDM has done great things for Avicii, and now the Swedish DJ is embarking on his first arena tour in the United States (even if it's a short one).

The producer will open the tour on April 10 at the TD Garden in Boston and take his time traversing across the country. After following the Boston show with a gig at the Jiffy Lube Live arena in Washington D.C., he'll take nearly a month off before appearing again at the Ak-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix. He'll follow that with a few more concerts across North America before taking another monthlong pause before closing out the "#TRUETOUR" at the Barclays Center in New York City on June 28. The long pauses can probably be explained by Avicii's schedule Las Vegas residencies at the Hakkasan nightclub at the Wynn Casino.

More dates are expected to be announced at a later time, and Avicii will also be hitting the tour circuit. For the the time being, he's scheduled to play the electronic-heavy Ultra Music Festival in Miami during March, but again, more dates are expected.

Tickets will go on sale via Ticketmaster on January 31.

If you hadn't heard of Avicii during 2011, you wouldn't be a minority, but 2012 saw the producer launched into the public spotlight. He played an even bigger gig than those on his upcoming tour when he opened for Madonna at Yankee Stadium, and then his single "Wake Me Up!" became one of the best-selling singles of any genre for 2013.
