In a recent interview with the Breakfast Club, "I Bet" singer Ciara opened up about her breakup with Future, motherhood and her new forthcoming album, Jackie.
Early on in the interview, Ciara dished on why things changed with her now ex, Future.
"It clearly didn't work out but I have the greatest gift, the greatest joy in my life is my son. And honestly, I feel like everything in life happens for a reason. You know, son has been the greatest gift that God has given me in my life..."
When pushed a little further on details on the breakup with Future, Ciara declared that she didn't want to "break down" all the details because the singer felt it wasn't important. Ciara believes their son was the blessing of their relationship.
Going through a public breakup with Future taught Ciara that it's important to allow real life incidents to be portrayed through music. Ciara noted that it's important to be vulnerable and that's exactly what she did in Jackie.
Ciara explained that she aimed to be expressive on Jackie since she learned it's "healthy to be vulnerable." The "I Bet" singer thinks that her openness on her new album allowed her to develop character.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the Jackie singer shared the inspiration behind her new album.
"The whole inspiration behind the title, naming it after my mom, is that I can now see the world through her eyes," Ciara told Rolling Stone. "My fans have grown up with me and seen my life change over the years, from a young girl with "Goodies" to a full-grown woman and now mom. So with this album, I wanted for my fans to connect with me as it relates to this new chapter in my life. From pre-baby to post-baby, there's a big difference."
Jackie is slated to release May 4. Watch the Breakfast Club interview with Ciara via Youtube below:
