Shaggy Competes In Rap Battle Competition With Steve Higgins On Fallon [WATCH]

They call him Mr. Boombastic, say he fantastic, and he proved them right last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. That's right, Shaggy stopped by the show to compete in a "Shaggy Off." But can anyone do Shaggy better than Shaggy? Well, Fallon wanted to find out.

During his guest appearance on the show Shaggy faced off against the show's announcer and Fallon's sidekick Steve Higgins for a rap battle to determine who does a better version of the reggae star's iconic voice.

Although Higgins put up a good fight, Shaggy proved that one beats Mr. Lover Lover.

Check it all out here:

Earlier this month, Shaggy came back into the spotlight, performing his latest single "I Need Your Love" featuring Mohombi, Faydee and Costi in front of an enthusiastic crowd of spring breakers in Florida at Club Vela.

In an interview this past February with the Miami New Times, Shaggy explained the contrast in lyrics from his 2000 hit "It Wasn't Me" to "I Need Your Love."

"I had a girlfriend when I wrote that song," Shaggy told the Miami New Times in reference to "It Wasn't Me." "She [his girlfriend at the time] knows I'm a big storyteller and that song is a story. It was a joke I took from Eddie Murphy's Raw. No matter what your girl says, 'It Wasn't Me.'"

Shaggy also shared what it was like growing up in a Jamaican household and the kind of music he was accustomed to hearing.

"My grandmother always had records playing," he explained. "Jamaican radio would go from Johnny Mathis to Jimmy Cliff. Her favorites were Patti Page and Mahalia Jackson."

He also explained how he goes about finding collaborators for his records.

"I do the record and let the record dictate the collaborator," he told the Miami New Times. "Most of the people I work with aren't famous. 'It Wasn't Me' had Rikrok. Of all my hits, Janet Jackson was the only big star. We did our vocals separate on 'Luv Me, Luv Me.' She wasn't even there the same time I was for the video."

Shaggy said he knew he wanted to work with Costi since their collaboration on "Fired Up" with Pitbull.

"I wanted to get together again,' he said. "I heard this track and thought it was wonderful. So I did some lyrics and we got a song people really like."
