When the Grammys first announced that arena rockers Imagine Dragons and rap's newest, greatest player in the game Kendrick Lamar, it seemed like a combination destined for disaster. However, from the moment that Lamar joined in on "Radioactive" by busting some seriously sick beats, it was clear that this was a performance highlight of the night (and it was one of Music Times' top picks).
Now, music fans who want to relive the "Radioactive" remix can. After the award show last night, Lamar and Imagine Dragons released a studio version of the hot track.
The "Radioactive" remix begins largely the same as the original version, albeit with a little more intense "breathing in" of the chemicals. After roughly two-and-a-half minutes, though, Lamar breaks into the song and everything changes.
The Compton rapper begins by showing off his flawlessly smooth emcee skills right from the get-go. "Bury me alive/ Bury me with pride / Bury me with berries / Their forbidden fruit and cherry wine," he raps.
Though Lamar begins with a smooth flow and a ton of restraint, like he did at the Grammys, he soon totally combusts and lets loose with a rap so angry and terrifying and powerful, it's hard not to be fully captivated.
How did this guy not win a Grammy last night?
Regardless, listen to the "Radioactive" remix below. But be warned, this thing packs a PUNCH.
And if you just love this so much, worry not. It's available on iTunes.
