It looks like Mumford & Sons may have another No. 1 album under the belt by this time next week. After releasing their first "plugged in" album Wilder Mind on Monday (May 4), the "Believe" band is set to top the Billboard 200 albums chart in the U.S.
Billboard reports that Wilder Mind will eclipse new releases from Ciara, My Morning Jacket, Tech N9ne and the Now compilation series. Now 54 is expected to sell over 70,00 units, with Tech N9ne looking at a 60,000 start and My Morning Jacket 30,000.
According to the chart-tracking website, Mumford & Sons' new effort is predicted to move 260,000 album equivalent units, easily knocking Zac Brown Band's Jekyll + Hyde from the top spot.
Despite tallying both concrete record sales, single purchases and streaming numbers, Wilder Mind's 260,000 unit start will still be a major dip from Mumford & Sons' last album, 2012's Babel. Led by the chart-topping single "I Will Wait," Babel started off its chart run with 600,000 albums sold. The album then topped the Billboard 200 for three weeks in a row. Babel later returned to the top spot in the country after winning Album of the Year at the 2013 Grammys.
To date, Babel has sold 2.7 million copies.
The No. 1 start of Wilder Mind continues commercial success for Mumford & Sons. The band's 2009 debut album Sigh No More eventually peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and has gone on to sell more than 3 million copies in the United States alone.
