As previously reported, Pussy Riot's Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova will make an appearance at Amnesty International's Bringing Human Rights Home concert next week on their first trip to North America since being freed from prison in Russia.
The two women had been serving two-year sentences for their performance of an anti-Putin "punk prayer" at Moscow's Christ the Savior Cathedral in February 2012 and were originally scheduled for release in April 2014, but were let out early because of a new amnesty law.
Now, Consequence of Sound reports that the two women will also make their way onto The Colbert Report while they are here. The February 4 episode will be their North American TV debut. As COS notes, both Pussy Riot and Colbert made the shortlist for Time's Person of the Year 2011. So that could be a topic of conversation. Also on his website, Colbert links to the HBO documentary Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, so it's possible that he might talk about that as well on the show.
What would you like Colbert to ask them about? Let us know in the comments section below!
