There's another new music festival on the way this summer, and this time, the music is coming to Kentucky. Today (May 27), Nitro Fidelity has announced a partnership with Speedway Motorsports Inc. to usher in the inaugural NiFi Music Festival. For the first festival, big names like Green Day, Kings of Leon and Miranda Lambert have been tapped.
Nifi Music Festival will take place from Aug. 28 to 30 in Sparta, Kentucky. Led by the previously mentioned headliners, NiFi Music Fest will also be bringing in Weezer, Spoon, Brantley Gilbert, Bleachers, Jake Owen, Gov't Mule and more, Billboard reports.
The aspirations of NiFi are huge, as Nitro Fidelity seeks to compete with the "top tier" music festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo, Governors Ball and Lollapalooza.
"We knew out of the gate we didn't want to be a mediocre festival, or a small one. We came from the approach that not only do we not want to be a failure, it has to be a success at a high level to penetrate the market, get notoriety, for people to come, experience, and say, 'wow, I want to go back next year,'" entrepreneur Sean Knight said in an interview.
Tickets for the inaugural NiFi Music Festival will go on sale on Thursday, May 28.
