Looks like there's some new blood on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, and by that we mean Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood." After the premiere of her much-hyped music video and a new remix by Kendrick Lamar, the pop superstar has scored her third No. 1 single from 1989 and unseated Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" from the top of the charts.
"Bad Blood" vaulted up 52 spots this week to reach No. 1 status, Billboard reports. The news of the new No. 1 should come as no surprise. The music video for "Bad Blood," which featured all her BFFs from Selena Gomez to Karlie Kloss to Lena Dunham, became the most-streamed video on VEVO in 24 hours last week. But, success didn't just come via streaming. The new remix of Swift's Katy Perry dis track saw a 722 percent increase in sales to top the Digital Downloads chart and the song saw a huge increase on radio.
The new No. 1 means that after six weeks on top, Khalifa's Furious 7 single "See You Again" slips down to No. 2. Despite rising to No. 1 status on the radio and a hold on streams, the power of Swift's sales unseated the Paul Walker tribute track. Similarly, Fetty Wap's No. 2 peaking single "Trap Queen" fell to No. 3 after three weeks at No. 2.
The Weeknd's "Earned It" fell to No. 5, Mark Ronson's once 14-week strong No. 1 "Uptown Funk" fell to No. 6 and Jason Derulo's "Want to Want Me" slipped to No. 7. As Swift unseated all those singles, Walk the Moon's pop-rock single "Shut Up and Dance" held its No. 4 position tight.
Though Swift dominates songs the rose into the top 10 this week, she wasn't the only one. David Guetta's Nicki Minaj collaboration "Hey Mama" rose three spots, sliding into the No. 8 position this week. Like "Bad Blood," "Hey Mama" got a bump from the Billboard Music Awards last Sunday (May 17) with a performance and a new music video.
Despite all the shuffling on the Hot 100 this week, the final two songs in the top 10 are familiar. Maroon 5's "Sugar" fell one spot to No. 9 and T-Wayne's "Nasty Freestyle" stumbled one spot to No. 10.
