Pink Floyd's David Gilmour Announces New Solo Album 'Rattle That Lock'

While Pink Floyd's former bassist Roger Waters cut ties with the band that gave him his fame to focus on a solo career, guitarist David Gilmour maintains participation with the band as well as releasing solo work. His latest album Rattle That Lock will follow up his 2006 LP On an Island.

During a June 5 talk at the 2015 Borris House Festival of Writing and Ideas in Carlow, Ireland, details of the LP were divulged, reports Ultimate Classic Rock. Gilmour confirmed that the album will debut in September, incorporating collaborations with his wife Polly Samson as well as Roxy Music's Jools Holland and Phil Manzanera.

At the Ireland event, Gilmour performed his latest tracks "Boots On The Ground," and "Girl With A Yellow Dress." Samson defined the theme of the LP as "seize every moment, look to the future... and don't be afraid or hold back," notes NME.

For the first time in nine years, Gilmour will embark on a UK and Europe tour, kicking off the leg in Croatia on September 12. The musician will tour numerous European cities before heading to the U.K from September 23 to 25 for a three-night stay at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Gilmour showed up onstage at London's Earls Court Arena in December to join Bombay Bicycle Club to jam on a lap steel guitar to play the band's song "Rinse Me Down," as well as an acoustic rendition of Pink Floyd's 1975 track "Wish You Were Here."

Pink Floyd released their first studio album since 1994 titled The Endless River, with which it dominated the British charts.
