A 47 year-old man has died at Bonnaroo as the result of a preexisting heart condition, according to representatives of the music festival. Apparently the victim was transported to a hospital on Friday evening, where he succumbed.
"Those who were with him informed our medical team that he was suffering from a pre-existing cardiac condition and, unfortunately, we understand that he has died," said Carl Monzo, emergency services director for the festival. "The safety and security of our patrons are our top priority, and our medical staff responded flawlessly. Our sympathy goes out to his family and friends."
Billboard reports that this is the 12th death in the 14-year history of the event. Unfortunately, a year without deaths for Bonnaroo is rather rare, as it's only occurred twice since 2009 (2014 was one of the safest years on record).
