Lil Wayne 'Free Weezy Album' Release Date Set for July 4? As Cash Money Lawsuit Drags On, Independence Day Looms

Lil Wayne is going to finally declare his independence on his forthcoming LP The Free Weezy Album, so it only makes sense that the record's release date fits the occasion. And, during a recent concert, it seems as though Tunechi has confirmed just as much. Yes, The Free Weezy Album is now finally due to arrive on July 4.

During one of Wayne's many club shows in Anaheim, California, earlier this week, Weezy announced that The Free Weezy Album is due to arrive on Independence Day, Stereogum reports. While standing on top of a bar at the club, Wayne declares quite bluntly: "It will be out on the Fourth of July," before launching into another one of his bangers.

Of course, the new July 4 release date is the latest timeline that the Young Money leader has offered up to his legions of fans. In the past, The Free Weezy Album was due for release in February, March and April.

But now, with Wayne on board as the latest celebrity co-owner of TIDAL, his new album may finally have a comfortable home and release rollout.

The Free Weezy Album is a holdover LP from Lil Wayne as the rapper battles his label Cash Money Records and former mentor Birdman over the release of his official next studio album, Tha Carter V. In a well-documented lawsuit, Wayne and Birdman are battling over release dates, royalties and shares of Young Money Cash Money as his new release sits on the shelf.
