The fourth wall of Jerry Seinfeld's apartment has finally been broken--residing floor level in Chelsea, complete with top-to-bottom glass windows and a view over 10th avenue. In celebration of adding the 9-season-long sitcom to stream on Hulu, Seinfeld: The Apartment installation was created, allowing fans further inside the door of the apartment and museum.
Chock-full of cereal variety, reverse peepholes and lacking the pee stain on the couch, the apartment can be found on 14th Street near New York City's Highline, notes Rolling Stone. The video dives into Seinfeld sneak peeks and special relics including George's Frogger machine, the Pez dispenser and Monk's booth.
On scene at a press review was Elaine's on-and-off boyfriend, David Puddy (portrayed by Patrick Warburton) and the Soup Nazi (played by Larry Thomas)--famously known for his "no soup for you" line. "I have wonderful memories of working with everyone involved," Thomas said. "It was a pretty joyous experience all the way around."
"It was a real blessing to get the opportunity to work with the whole gang," Warburton said. "So as long as I resemble in any way Puddy and people recognize, I appreciate that." He also added a perfectly tossed off, "Yeah, that's right."
Seinfeld: The Apartment will be available to the public through June 28. The installation allows fans to step into the doorway and the lives of Jerry Seinfeld, Elaine Benes, Cosmo Kramer and George Costanza, complete with the chance to pose in George's "sexy photo shoot" and yadda yadda yadda.
One fan, 27-year-old Tim McGeever already managed to pull a Sein-fail by breaking the apartment's replica door while acting out Kramer's famous imposing entrance.
"For a moment I guess I froze because I didn't know if I was going to be in trouble," said McGeever according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Then it really sunk in that they built this set, they encouraged me to go through this door in this manner, and a multimillion dollar company built this. They started shuttling people out and I just tiptoed my way out of there."
