Modest Mouse Turns Fantasy in Latest 'The Ground Walks, With Time in a Box' Video [WATCH]

Ripping off of the latest fantasy-inspired craze, Modest Mouse premiered an unnerving new video for "The Ground Walks, With Time in a Box," the band's latest single off of the highly anticipated 2015 album Strangers to Ourselves. Channeling a vivid Westeros lifestyle, the video showcases King Isaac Brock and the group dressed head to toe as medieval vagabonds—complete with a crown made of house keys, a pagan ceremony, robes made of neckties and a naturally bloody ending.

The gruesome finale to the video features Brock gouging out the eyes of an enemy with so much strength that the opponent's head explodes—hinting at bizarre scenes from "The Mountain" and "The Red Viper" from the latest season of Game of Thrones. Jorge Torres-Torres not only directed the violent video but also lent a helping hand to the instinctive "Lampshades on Fire" video, notes Rolling Stone.

Due to the plot twists and involved nature of the video, only one downside comes with its lengthy and eye-gouging clips: The track is cut down two entire minutes from the album version of "The Ground Walks, With Time in a Box," taking away from the song's Talking Heads' inspired instrumental break.

Returning home from a tour in Europe, Modest Mouse will embark on a North American leg, recently announcing their September 5 performance at Philadelphia's Made in America fest. Also visiting Austin City Limits fest in October as well as Denver and Chicago's Riot Fests, the band will stay on the road until the tour wraps up with a gig on October 30 at New Orleans' Voodoo Experience, reports Consequence of Sound.
