Remy Ma is Joining the Next Season of 'Love & Hip-Hop New York'

It looks like there's going to be a new member of the Vh1's Love & Hip-Hop New York crew next season. Rapper Remy Ma has confirmed that she will be joining the LHHNY cast, alongside her husband and fellow rapper, Papoose. Last night, during the LHHATL after-show, the "Conceited" rapper announced that she will be joining the upcoming season. For viewers of the LHHNY reality series, Season 6 is about to get much more interesting.

Bronx native Remy Ma was released from prison in August of 2014 and has been taking strides to get her career back to where it used to be prior to her incarceration. The Terror Squad rapper served six years in prison for shooting a friend in a dispute allegedly over $3,000. While Remy was locked up, a lot changed in the landscape of rap, specifically the female rap genre. Whereas there used to be a variety of female rappers on the scene, over the years the competition has pretty much died down and Nicki Minaj has reigned supreme in that realm, for the most part. Remy admitted this in an interview with Angie Martinez before she was released from prison. She stated, "Nick has always been a supporter and vice versa. I like what she does. She's done wonderful things for females, but I just wish there was more of them. I don't know what they're doing; they're letting these guys take over." Remy also stated that she had been writing a lot of material while incarcerated and was ready to jump back into the rap game.

Although she released a mixtape called I'm Around soon after her return and she has been hosting parties and doing shows here and there, it has been seemingly difficult for Remy to fully revive her career to what it used to be. The "Lean Back" rapper was definitely a street favorite in her heyday as one of the four female rappers that have earned the top spot in Billboard's Hot 100.

Fans are eager to see how the Boogie-down-Bronx rapper and her no-nonsense attitude will mix with some of the other personalities that are already on the show. This could help her revive her career and give her industry credibility or it could very well jeopardize her reputation. What do you think? Is this a good move for Remy Ma? Will you be tuning into Season 6 of LHHNY?
