Kelis' milkshake brought all the boys to the yard in her massive 2003 hit, but now she's hoping to bring even more food to your television set on a new Cooking Channel show. Yesterday (Feb. 17) it was announced that the 34-year-old singer has landed her own show on the food centric channel after years of dedicating albums and songs to her love of food.
According to Consequence of Sound, Kelis' show - which is awesomely titled Saucy and Sweet -- will launch on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 8:30 p.m. on the Cooking Channel. And, no, the show is no joke. A promo on The Cooking Channel's website shows the sultry R&B star putting together comfort food recipes and serving them to guests a la Paula Deen, and teases that she will show off "food with attitude." Watch the 30-second preview here.
The fact that Kelis is getting a cooking show should come to no surprise to longtime fans of the singer, as she has been paying tribute to the culinary arts in her music for years, with song titles such as "Milkshake," "Sugar Honey Iced Tea" and "Jerk Ribs."
Kelis' Saucy and Sweet will premiere ahead of the release of her sixth studio album, fittingly titled FOOD. Expect her to tie music into her food show, as the new album features songs such as "Breakfast," "Cobbler" and "Biscuits 'n' Gravy." FOOD will be served on April 21.
