Chief Keef has unveiled his latest track "Ain't Missing You" featuring the vocals of singer Jenn Em who tackles the track's emotional chorus. The tune is a tribute to Sosa's late cousin Mario "Big Glo" Hess who was shot and killed in Chicago in April 2014. "Ain't Missing You" is the first single off the seemingly infinitely delayed album Bang 3, though we have heard that narrative before.
The tune is much different from the Chief Keef sound that has made him so popular in the streets. He ditches the snare rolls and 808s for something much softer, indicating a more mature touch from Sosa as he looks to give a meaningful tribute to his fallen cousin. The track is an interpolation of John Waite's "Missing You" with similar guitar chords and drum patterns. Keef falls back on the familiar auto-tune vocal treatment for the track.
He ends the tune on a personal note, "Just know this, I will miss you Big Glo."
Keeping up with Chief Keef's various project announcements has been nearly impossible, but with Bang 3 potentially on the way, it appears things may be back on track. He spent the first several months of the year putting out loose singles before releasing a mixtape Sorry For The Weight. In April, he shared the information that his next album would be titled Tha Cozart, but we don't have any further details on the progress of that track.
The video is a simple compilation of clips with Chief Keef in the studio opposite his singing partner Jenn Em, the rapper flaunting his wealth driving around Chicago in his white Rolls Royce and slow-motion shots of Big Glo.
The video was done with production company FilmOn, which is owned by eccentric Greek billionaire Alki David.
In a statement about the video via The Fader, FilmOn noted the maturation process of Chief Keef as he changes his gun-toting tune to something less violent.
"'Aint Missing You' signals a new, more mature phase in the rapper's career as he works to raise awareness about the violence in 'Chiraq' he was once part of."
