While some artists have begun to close the chapter of their time spent with Cash Money Records, such as Turk, who recently settled with former label home for undisclosed amount, Lil Wayne still remains at war with parent label and long-time affiliate Bryan "Birdman" Williams. Now he has had an awkward run-in with Williams this past Sunday at Club LIV in Miami.
Lil Wayne, who currently has a $51 M lawsuit pending against longtime label home Cash Money Records which is the parent company to his own subsidiary Young Money, had a reported not so friendly encounter with his former "Pa" Birdman after he allegedly threw a cup at Weezy during his performance at LIV TheShadeRoom suggests.
Wayne and Baby's 20-year long relationship began to fizzle publicly after Wayne came forward in December voicing frustrations with the label in a series of heated tweets citing, "To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won't and hasn't been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it".
The matter has yet to be resolved as Wayne fights for his musical freedom along with the megastars belonging to the Young Money roster, such as Drake and Nicki Minaj, in the $51 M lawsuit waged against Baby earlier this year.
Even with the pending lawsuit, Wayne's fervor and passion for creating music has yet to be diminished which is evident in the Tidal released Free Weezy Album which dropped July 4th, which Wayne cites as being his best work in a very long time.
Hopefully at some point in the near future for fans' sake the two can find some middle ground as they have done some pretty epic things together.
