Well here's a late candidate for rap song of the summer. To spike up the anticipation for Future's Dirty Sprite 2, we've got what's sure to be one of the album's hottest tracks hours ahead of the scheduled release, tonight at midnight. On "Where Ya At," Future enlists Drake, DS2's lone feature. And the Jungle Tour mates don't disappoint.
"Where Ya At" is dark and murky like the beverage for which the album is named. As both Sprite sippers achieve top-tier status, they have to keep a watchful eye on "new friends" who are keen to sneak out of the woodwork. Future has built his Freebandz movement from the ground up, but if you weren't with him in the dope house, stay outta the penthouse.
"Where your ass was at, dog, when n*ggas wasn't feed me? / Where your ass was at, dog, when b*tches didn't need me? / Where your ass was at, dog, when n*ggas tried to run off? Where your ass was at, dog? You made me pull this gun out," he raps.
Drake follows by asking similar rhetorical questions, giving us a softer, more comprehensible verse, while still sticking to the wildly catchy tempo Future opens and closes the track with.
"Where Ya At" comes about a week after "Blow a Bag." If the rest of DS2 matches the quality of these two surefire hits, we're in for a treat.
The deluxe version also includes "Trap N*ggas," "Real Sisters" and "F*ck Up Some Commas," which we heard on Future's 56 Nights, Beast Mode and Monster mixtapes, respectively. Check out the tracklists below.
Both the regular and deluxe versions of the album will be available at midnight (July 17).
