Review: Justin Bieber new single 'Broken' finds troubled singer whining about public perception [LISTEN]

After a rocky winter, Justin Bieber has given the world his musical response. Over the weekend, the troubled 19-year-old singer dropped "Broken."

After a new single every week for 10, waiting two months for a new Justin Bieber track seems like a massive stretch for his Beliebers. But, there was that slew of legal trouble, including a pending DUI case in Florida, an assault charge in Toronto and a possibly felonious egging case that paused his musical process. But, he has an answer for all his detractors: you cannot break him.

"I guess they want a reaction / I ain't gonna give it to 'em / Yeah, they try to get at me / I ain't gonna read into it / Yeah, they be persistent / Try to break me down / I cannot be broken," Bieber declares right out of the gate.

No, he's not sorry for acting out in really irresponsible, possibly deadly ways. The world is out to get Bieber, but they can't catch up to him. Literally. He's speeding down the road and is hard to get to.

Ugh.

Released as a part of DJ Tay James' We Know The DJ Radio 4 mixtape, the Blake Kelly-featuring track includes a clunky, funky beat and particularly whiny music from the Biebz.

Bieber is capable of making better music than this - he showed that quite well on his winter 2013 effort Journals, which balanced mature R&B with a poppy sensibility and vulnerable, personal lyrics.

"Broken," however, sounds like a little whiny brat who isn't getting his way and is blaming everyone else for his mistakes. And that's just not the music Bieber needs to be releasing right now.
