Most shows would open up with a bang, but for Late Night With Seth Meyers, it was all about a quiet beginning. In the wee hours of the morning on Feb. 25, the former Saturday Night Live Weekend Update anchor started his own late night talk show, and piano pop rockers A Great Big World were there to help him usher in a new era of television.
A month out of the release of its debut album Is There Anybody Out There? and a few weeks before a short international tour, A Great Big World opened up the Late Night studio 8G stage with a rendition of its smash hit "Say Something."
Though Christina Aguilera was nowhere in sight, the blue moon backlit performance was fittingly somber, as A Great Bit World's Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino were perfectly quiet and emotional.
Watch A Great Big World perform "Say Something" below, with an introduction by Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler (yay!):
It wasn't the explosive first performance of U2 that Jimmy Fallon ushered The Tonight Show in with last week, but it still helped to pave the way for Late Night, which has oftentimes featured smaller, rising musical acts in its final segment.
Though, the doesn't mean the show doesn't have room for massive musical stars. Yeezus himself Kanye West will take over Late Night tonight (Feb. 26).
