Hard Summer: Two Women Die Of Suspected Drug Overdose

Tragedy has struck Los Angeles EDM festival Hard Summer. According to the L.A. County Coroner's Office two women, ages 18 and 19, have died of suspected drug overdoses after attending day one of the music festival yesterday. The identities of the two teenagers have not been disclosed to the public yet.

An 18-year-old woman collapsed at the event yesterday, Aug. 1 and was transported to Pomona Valley Medical Center. She was pronounced dead at the hospital at 6.04 p.m.

A 19-year-old female was found unresponsive on the event grounds and transported to Pomona Valley Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 8:10 p.m according to ABC News.

Temperatures in Pomona, California reached upwards of 96 degrees Fahrenheit, though the festival did try to counter that with seven water refill stations.

Put on by Gary Richards' Hard Events, the sold-out two-day event was expecting approximately 65,000 people each day. Acts like The Chemical Brothers, Jack Ü, Dillon Francis, Porter Robinson, Ratatat, Big Gigantic, The Weeknd, Tchami and Jamie xx all performed or are expected to perform at the festival.

Hard Summer opened its doors today at 11 a.m. PST for the second final day of music at the Fairplex in Pomona, California.

This is not the first time an attendee has died at Hard Summer. Last year, another 19-year-old woman died of a suspected overdose when it was held in South El Monte.

The story is still developing and we do not have all of the details surrounding the two women's deaths. Toxicology reports could take weeks to return results, so until then, we won't know for sure what the cause of death was. Stay tuned for updates.
