Last night New Jersey was treated to special night of hip-hop with J. Cole and Big Sean bringing their "2014 Forest Hills Drive" joint tour—with special guests YG, Jeremih, Bas, Cozz and Omen. Reports about the actual concert at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel were positive, but the night ended in violence for a few individuals outside of the venue. According to police reports, at least two people were shot after the show.
Both victims, men, were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The incident happened around 11:16 Monday evening and police continue to search for the gunman in the wooded area surrounding the concert venue according to CBS New York. No suspects have been named and the identities of the victims have not been released to the public at this time.
The "2014 Forest Hills Drive Tour" continues tonight at Madison Square Garden in New York. The rest of the tour will continue through various other amphitheaters and other large outdoor venues in Washington, D.C, Montreal, Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte—close to where J. Cole grew up—and then the beautiful Red Rocks Amphitheatre. See details for the rest of the tour here and we hope this doesn't occur at any more dates.
The situation is fluid and stay tuned for any updates.
That was not the only shooting that occurred at a rap concert last night. Following the official OVO Fest afterparty last night at The Musik Nightclub in Toronto, which was hosted by Drake, two individuals were shot and another three were critically injured. This is the second year in a row that someone was shot on the premises of the Musik Nightclub at the OVO Fest afterparty.
