It seems like some of Chris Brown's patterns of violent behavior may be explained. Today (Feb. 28), court documents revealed the 24-year-old singer suffers from Bipolar II Disorder and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
According to MTV, during Brown's latest hearing at the Los Angeles Superior Court in the Rihanna beating case, his rehab facility documents revealed his dual diagnosis. In addition to Bipolar and PTSD, it was also noted that Brown suffered from sleep deprivation and was self-medicating, which added to his bad behavior.
"Mr. Brown will also require close supervision by his treating physician in order to ensure his bipolar mental health condition remains stable. It is not uncommon for patients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar II to use substances to self-medicate their biomedical mood swings and trauma triggers," a statement from his rehab facility stated. "Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD."
Brown is said to be receiving his treatment well and is making positive strides forward. He was noted as have "exemplary" behavior while in rehab for anger management issues.
Brown was sentenced to 90 days in rehab back in November after throwing a brick through his mother's car window.
That's not all of his past bad behavior. Brown also assaulted Rihanna in 2009, fought with a man in Washington, D.C., brawled with Drake and more.
Now that Brown is out of rehab, hopefully he'll continue to move forward positively in life.
He's already taken one good step. Earlier this week, he announced that his new album X will drop on May 5.
