JoJo’s dropping three new singles at the same time? Get out. Right now. It’s been almost 10 years since the songbird’s last album The High Road. And while she’s kept fans busy with a bevy of mixtapes and singles it was obvious she was gearing up for the real comeback.
Last month, fans first got a taste that JoJo was working on new music when she tweeted:
Around the same time she changed all her social media handles to @IAMJOJO and debuted her new promo image, a pensive picture of herself overlooking the city in a white swimsuit. But last night the singer took to Instagram to debut the real news. That baby she’s having, it’s a “tringle”.
All roads lead to Aug. 21 for her new “tringle” of jams, which Urban Dictionary defines at “the simultaneous release of three singles”.
Real details on the album are scarce but JoJo specified that the records with be “separate, particular, & distinct”. So while fans just might get another slice of the anthemetic breakup pop that made her a star, we could also be in for something more electro-R&B like her 2010 mixtape Can’t Take That Away From Me or the Neo-soul angst of 2012’s Agape.
This will be JoJo’s first album at new label Atlantic Records after a lengthy legal battle with her initial lable home Blackground.
Nine years is a long time in music to be on the bench. Let’s hope it’s not “Too Little, Too Late” for her to make a comeback.
