When he hasn't been clowning Puff Daddy and Ciroc, 50 Cent has been posting Instagram pictures of his studio sessions with the producers who will be featured on his upcoming album, Street King Immortal. And going off the pictures, he's has recruited a younger Atlanta lineup in a clear attempt to work his style into the trending sounds of the moment. The "9 Shots" rapper has confirmed via Instagram that Sonny Digital, London on da Track, TM88 and Zaytoven will contribute beats to SKI. He hasn't been so revealing of the album's rapping features, but he hinted that he might have a spot for Big Sean.
Street King Immortal was originally planned for release in summer 2012. In early 2014, he parted ways with Interscope, signed with Capitol Records and, a few months later, released an album under a different title, Animal Ambition. At the beginning of this summer, 50 Cent said he still planned to put out Street King Immortal and geve the album a September release date. The album's first single was May's "Get Low," featuring Jeremih, T.I. & 2 Chainz and produced by Remo the Hitmaker.
Less than a month away from the album's release (hopefully), 50 Cent let his followers know he would be bringing out the "Killers" for Street King Immortal by posting a picture of himself beside Sonny Digital, one of two producers behind the "Tuesday," the platinum-selling single from iLoveMakonnen and Drake.
He also posed for a studio picture with London on da Track, who made his name by producing Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan's breakout Rich Gang mixtape, Tha Tour: Part 1, in its entirety. This year, he's landed beats on Lil Wayne's Sorry 4 the Wait 2 as well as Thug's Barter 6.
When he posted a picture with TM88, formerly of the 808 Mafia collective, 50 Cent wrote, "oh this gonna be a classic trust me. I have the best producers for this Album."
The last producer he gets a picture with is the veteran of the bunch, longtime hitmaker Zaytoven, undisputedly one of Atlanta's best. "Here is my AK47," 50 Cent said of the Beast Mode producer.
Before he logged his sessions with the Atlanta producers, 50 Cent shared a picture of himself with Big Sean, whom it also seems will be on the album.
Earlier this month, 50 Cent unveiled "9 Shots," produced by Grammy Award-winning Toronto producer, Frank Dukes. It will be interesting to hear how the Atlanta producers will complement "9 Shots," which leans toward a more traditional New York record. These producers have the versatility to adapt to 50's cooler, monotone sound, but SKI seems like it will be 50's most experimental album in some time.
