Last weekend, the world was watching as stars assembled in the Microsoft Theater for the 2015 MTV VMAs. The evening definitely had a few eye raising moments such as Nicki Minaj confronting host Miley Cyrus, with the infamous one-liner, "Miley, what's good". This was in addition to the highly anticipated moment where Kanye West was to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and it was to be presented to him by none other than Taylor Swift. Naturally, West being West, he accepted the award in the bizarrest of fashions and gave, arguably, the oddest acceptance speech in the history of the VMAs. However, in his sincerest effort to graciously thank his friend for her fine words, West gifted Swift with a massive amount of flowers for presenting him with the award.
Swift took to Twitter to show off her cool flower arrangement gifted to her by the one and only West citing, "Awww Kanye sent me the coolest flowers!! #KanTay2020 #BFFs". Swift referenced West's run for president in the 2020 election and apparently even signed on to be his running mate.
We all recall the VMAs six years ago where West went down in infamy for snatching the microphone out of Swift's hands to berate MTV and praise Beyonce, who he thought should have won the VOTY for "Single Ladies." My how times have changed. The two went from being at odds with one another after the awkward incident to actually developing a friendship at the prodding of their mutual friend, Jay-Z. Thanking Swift in true West fashion, he sent the pop star a massive compressed cube of white flowers to extend his appreciation her for being so magnanimous.
Oh Mr. West! The rapper is a walking, talking conundrum (which we can gather just by his all over the place acceptance speech). The saying, "there is a fine line between genius and insanity," is a true personification of the rapper and fashion designer. For all his idiosyncrasies, we must admit, West is unapologetically himself and he wears it well.
