While fans still wait for an official DOOMstark album (or even a release date), hip-hop icon Ghostface Killah and Masked MC MF Doom have tied them over with their latest collaboration "Lively Hood."
Released as this week's single from Adult Swim's Singles Series, the New York based rappers go back and forth over a gritty beat (produced by Doom) talking about their hometown in all its glory. "Bad as in good, good as in hood", they chant in the chorus while they take turns talking about everything from Morton's Steak House to the current spike in police brutality around the city.
"Lively" is the latest in a series of one-off singles released by the hip-hop duo who have been teasing a joint album for years. Last year Ghostface confirmed in a Reddit AMA that the album would see the light of day sometime this year though details about the LP remain scarce. Before this week's release, DOOMStark's last song together was 2011's "Victory Laps."
Their song is this week's release from Adult Swim following a summer of gems that kicked off with former Danity Kane member Dawn Richards and featuring contributions from Danny Brown + Clams Casino, Slayer and an epic Sia remix by Big Freedia. By far the most popular song in the compilation was Skrillex and Jauz "Squad Out!" which dropped last month.
