Lil Wayne was a recent guest on Cari Champion’s “Be Honest” ESPN Radio podcast and while there, he gave an update on Tha Carter V and said he's a better rapper than Drake.
While fans have been patiently waiting for the release of Wayne's highly anticipated album for quite some time, it sounds like it may be a bit longer before the LP actually drops. Although the album is finished, the "Believe Me" rapper is currently working on a deal to release it.
“I’m in the studio every single day. I’m not working on any certain thing, I just be working,” he shared. “What I am working on right now is a comfortable way and a comfortable deal to put Tha Carter V out.”
In December 2014, Wayne jumped on social media and blasted his longtime label Cash Money Records for refusing to release Tha Carter V. The album was delayed several times throughout the year and was said to be the rapper's last solo album.
"I am a prisoner and so is my creativity Again, I am truly sorry and I don't blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u," he wrote on Twitter.
Elsewhere during the discussion, Wayne made it clear that his protégé Drake is no lyrical match for him. “Man, I annihilate that guy.”
Last fall, the two rappers engaged in a little friendly competition with their co-headlining Drake vs. Lil Wayne tour. Ironically, Wayne and Drizzy paid tribute to then incarcerated Meek Mill during their Philadelphia stop.
When asked about Drizzy's beef with the MMG rhymer, Wayne was tight lipped, only saying that he loves “Back to Back.”
