French DJ, producer, Gesaffelstein has shared the first piece of new original music from his upcoming soundtrack for the new French film Maryland. The new track is titled "A Pledge" and it is the last of his new pieces before the soundtrack flips over to past works from the Aleph DJ.
"A Pledge" is unlike past works from Gesaffelstein that have been beat-heavy and dark, whereas this is brooding and haunting without a thudding bass like to carry the track to its eventual completion. It warbling synths hypnotize the listener as an oscillating synth bass wobbles underneath for what must be outfitted for a suspenseful or depressing scene.
It is the last song on the C-side of the four-sided vinyl available for purchase now. Pre-order the special, limited-edition vinyl - 1,000 to be exact - here. Gesaffelstein produced 12 new songs for the soundtrack and 10 new originals, as well as, including 3 classics from his discography. The soundtrack will be released on Sept. 24 and for those who don't have a vinyl player you can also pre-order the OST on iTunes. It will be available to stream on your favorite service.
Maryland is a film about an ex-soldier Vincent, played by Mattias Schoenaerts, who is hired to protect the child and wife of a wealthy Lebanese businessman while he is out of town. All appears to be fine, but Vincent sees threats everywhere he goes.
