Raconteurs reunion is 'off the table,' according to Brendan Benson

In an interview with Billboard, Brendan Benson says that a potential reunion of The Raconteurs is "off the table."

The band, made up of Benson, Jack White, Patrick Keeler and Jack Lawrence, had been rumored to be working on new material. White confirmed in 2013 that they were all living in Nashville, making those rumors seem plausible. But Benson says that the future of the band, who released their last album Consolers Of The Lonely in 2008, is not certain.

"That's kind of off the table," Benson told them. "It always felt spontaneous. I liked that about it, too. And I think it remains that way. We never planned anything. We never planned a breakup. All of us but one live in the same town, so [in the future] it could very well happen... or not."

Benson has stepped down from his solo career for the time being to focus on his new label, Readymade Records. "Since I started the label, I have been going through this transition, and it's almost like an identity crisis -- like leaving my solo career a bit. I'm still going to make records."

As for White, he has confirmed work on new solo material and has been sporadically releasing new material with his band The Dead Weather. White also recently worked with Neil Young on his upcoming album, which was recorded at Third Man studios.
