Don Diablo, real name Don Pepjin Schipper, has released his collaboration with Tiësto, "Chemicals." First premiered by the "Wasted" DJ on the Tomorrowland mainstage in July with Diablo coming out as a guest, the tune has been a steady highlight in both DJ's sets over the past few months. In addition to that, Schipper has been teasing the news for some time, but in a recent interview he officially announced that he is working on a new artist album.
The new collaboration between these two long-time Dutch dance music veterans follows the path of what Don Diablo has been putting out recently. Diablo & Tiësto craft a club track with a festival appeal with its jogging bass line, house piano and distorted synth lead. The vocals about human connectivity from Thomas Troelsen add another element to the track that is normally missing from many club oriented tracks. The saga of Don Diablo's latest artist album has been a long and tortured road. He has already released two studio LPs, 2 Faced in 2004 and Life is a Festival in 2008, as well as five compilation albums, but he is due for another full-length.
In 2013, the Dutchman had almost everything done for another LP when his main system drive crashed.
Speaking to a Dtuch TV show (via exqlusiv), he recounted his misery.
"I have been working for 5 years on my artist and this album needs to be finished within 2 months. There is nothing I could do about it, I've made my back-ups, but my main system drive crashed. I've lost everything. All the music I've worked on is gone, as are all the recordings I've made with other musicians. It feels like I am in some sort of trance, it's as if my house burned down."
Now he is ready to restart the process. In an interview with edm-girl he details his progress and the direction. "I've already made two tracks for it, now I'm just talking to collaborators. There will also be some stuff in the style of "M1 Stinger" on there."
