It's safe to say that Eminem is that dude and his recent confession of "beginning to feel like a 'Rap God'" isn't too farfetched.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 sold an additional 13,000 copies for the week ending March 16. All in all, the album has sold beyond two million copies.
But this is the norm for Slim Shady. According to Billboard, the Detroit rapper has a trend of moving more than two million units of each of his albums.
In addition, Em has just reached another milestone in his career. His total sales across all albums now sits at 44.91 million.
Surpassing country musician George Strait by a hair, Eminem is now the the second-best-selling male artist.
George Strait has sold a total of 44.89 million albums.
It is also important to keep in mind that all of Strait's album sales have not been accounted for as the beginning of his career predates SoundScan data.
Moreover, Eminem has recently celebrated his 50th Billboard Hot 100 hit.
"Headlights," featuring fun's Nate Ruess, debuted at No. 86.
The chart entry makes Em the seventh rapper to tally at least 50 Hot 100 chart entries.
He trails behind T.I. and Ludacris who have 53 and 54 entries respectively. Lil Wayne leads all emcees, and all solo artists of any kind, with 121 chart entries.
Congratulations are most certainly in order. Kudos to Eminem on achieving such great success throughout his career.
