The Lil Wayne vs. Cash Money Records saga continues. According to new documents revealed from the lawsuit, Weezy is claiming that Birdman's label owes some serious money to his artists Nicki Minaj, Drake and Tyga.
According to new legal documents obtained by TMZ, Wayne is claiming that they have obtained letters from Tyga and Drake's respective camps claiming that they were also denied the money they were entitled to.
The allegations stem from an alleged $100 million from Universal, which a large amount was supposed to be sent over to Young Money. Wayne's team says they are still waiting on that cash, but Cash Money claims they already sent over the money.
According to the documents, Cash Money claims it gave Young Money a $20 million advance in 2012, another $12 million for a Wayne solo album and then another $70 million in advances, marketing, royalties and recording costs for the various Young Money artists.
They then point to another obligation that Wayne is apparently keeping. Young Money was supposed to deliver 21 albums over seven years from its various artists and has only given 13.
The new allegations aren't all that surprising or too foreign considering what has been said about Cash Money in this lawsuit. Deep in the suit, Young Money alleges that Birdman and co. have not been paying for the quarterly overhead of the label, which Cash Money clearly disputes.
It also claims, "Cash Money has failed to properly account and pay royalties and profits to Young Money LLC in respect of the exploitation of recordings owned and commercially exploited by Young Money Label."
Drake and Nicki Minaj would have big money coming to them from their streaming totals, if indeed they are not getting the money paid out to them from Birdman. Minaj has been positive about the whole situation being worked out, while Drake has been quiet publicly, but privately he has been unhappy with the situation. Tyga has been more public about it, pulling out of the label to release his The Gold Album: 18 Dynasty.
