Bad news for those in the #freebobbyshmurda camp. The "Hot N*gga" rapper was denied bail once again after presenting himself in Manhattan court yesterday to face charges in his ongoing trail over serious drugs and weapons charges. Bobby Shmurda, real name Ackquille Pollard, made the appearance with yet another new lawyer, Alex Spiro, his third one since he was arrested.
Alex Spiro works for the high-powered law firm Brafman & Associates, which could be good for Shmurda, but could rack up some lofty lawyer fees and having to hire a third lawyer is not a good sign for the facts in the case.
According to Page Six, during the hearing Judge James Burke set a new trial date for Feb. 22. Pollard's lawyer objected, demanding his client be released pending the trial. However Special Narcotics Prosecutor Nigel Farinha argued that since there had already been four bail denials with the case only stronger, it would be a mistake to let him go with the rapper's ties to Florida a net worth of half a million dollars.
Bobby Shmurda is being held at Rikers Island prison on multiple drug and weapons charges stemming from an arrest made back in December during an investigation by a special NYPD task force set up to take down his GS9 crew. He was held on a $2 million bail, which his record label Epic Records decided not to front. Pollard was arrested along with 14 other members of the GS9 group.
The arrest came just one month after his hit single "Hot N*gga" hit number 6 on the Billboard charts and propelled him into the public consciousness as a new rapper to be reckoned with in 2014 and heading into 2015.
