The 2015 MTV European Music Awards are going to get a "Happy" start. On Tuesday (Oct. 6), MTV announced that this year's EMAs will kick off with a little American flavor with a performance courtesy of The Voice coach and notable hitmaker Pharrell Williams.
Pharrell will open up the EMAs with a performance that has yet to be revealed, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He's the first performer that has been revealed but Pharrell is not due to be the only major star in the house. This year's EMAs will be hosted by British pop superstar Ed Sheeran and Orange Is The New Black's breakout star Ruby Rose.
Pharrell won't just be in attendance at the 2015 EMAs to provide entertainment for the audience. He's also up for multiple awards. Pharrell is nominated for Best Male against Sheeran, Jason Derulo, Justin Bieber and Kanye West. He's also up for the night's biggest honor, Best Video, for his clip "Freedom." Other nominated videos include Kendrick Lamar's "Alright," Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' "Downtown," Sia's "Elastic Heart" and the MTV VMAs Video of the Year "Bad Blood" by Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar.
Pharrell has yet to win any EMAs, though he has been nominated seven times before (nine including his 2015 nods) for Best Male, Best R&B, Best World Stage Performance, Best Song, Best Video and Best U.S. Act.
The 2015 MTV EMAs are set to take place at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan on Sunday, Oct. 25.
